Parenting And Caring Together Program (PaCT)

Objectives of PaCT

  • Ensure post-separation parenting is managed in a manner that fosters the best interests of the children.
  • Lessen the amount of conflict between parents with the goal of minimising the negative impact on children’s wellbeing.
  • Promote greater compliance with parenting orders or alternatively enabling greater collaboration in forming parenting arrangements.
  • Assist to divert separating families away from ongoing litigation.

Desired Outcomes

  • Children are given a voice so their needs can be recognised and addressed.
  • Parents learn to develop a greater understanding of their children’s requirements.
  • A workable relationship is negotiated between separated/divorced parents in relation to their ongoing parenting responsibilities.
  • Children will benefit from improved and appropriate relationships from their parents.

Services that PaCT offers

The program offers a range of services on a case by case basis, ranging from:

  • Education/therapy groups
    Building New Bridges
    Focus on Kids
    Jigsaw Children’s Group
  • Counseling or individual support
  • Referral and Information
  • Mediation/negotiation
  • Case Work

Referral to PaCT

Referral to POP can occur at any of the court process such as: Pre-filing, final Parenting Orders or the first court date.

Early referrals are more effective in preventing further court involvement and reducing the emotional impact of family separation.

Referral sources can include: Family Law Court, Federal Magistrates Court, Victorian Legal Aid, NSW Legal Aid Commission, solicitors, other services and self.

No person will be refused service due to financial hardship. Rates are in accordance with income levels and if eligible can be waived

  • The fees will be a ‘one off’ payment paid per person
  • Our fees cover each individual’s complete involvement in the program
  • Fees to be paid prior to participation in the program to Reception at 558 Mitchell St, Albury
  • Refunds are provided if unable to participate in the program and the cancellation is 24hours in advance

Child Inclusive Practice

  • Children are given a voice through the child consultant who meets with the children during the intake process
  • Ensure parents understand and recognise their children’s experiences and requirements
  • Promote decisions based on meeting the children’s needs and their best interest

PaCT Model

  • Our model uses a systemic framework with a variety of techniques and service deliveries which allows it to be flexible and meaningful to participants.
  • It also uses strength based competency approach which concentrate on the existing strengths and resources of participants.
  • Our model has a large focus on the children and seek to assist participants to learn improved ways of communication and understanding to enable them to become effective co-parent.
  • It has privilege information status.
